The Ivoryton Playhouse103 N Main Street The Ivoryton Playhouse is the country's oldest self-supporting summer stock theater. Established in 1908, it began serving as a Connecticut theater in 1930. It operates June through Labor Day, and there is a wonderful children's theater on Saturday. Garde Arts Center325 State Street As a nonprofit corporation established in 1985, the Center presents national and international touring companies, Broadway, music, dance and theater. This center for entertainment in Connecticut is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Norma Terris Theatre33 North Main Street This theater in Connecticut develops new musicals and nurtures emerging artists. It was named in honor of the actress Norma Terris, star of Jerome Kern’s Show Boat and a devoted patron and trustee of the Goodspeed Opera House during her later years. Eugene O’Neil Theater Center305 Great Neck Road This memorial theater is dedicated to the development of new works for the theater and training in the theater arts. There are programs in puppetry, playwriting, musicals and cabaret. Shubert Theater247 College Street The Shubert presents a wide array of programs to a diverse community. It offers dance, cabaret and family entertainment representing many cultures, nationalities and varieties of artistic expression. The Shubert also maintains comprehensive education and community outreach programs and makes it possible for families who might not otherwise be able to attend the theater, to come at no cost to them.
